This might be the most phenomenal show I have seen yet and not just in my recent Culture Corner travels, but perhaps EVER. Very simply staged, but so much talent. Absolutely riveting. Morgan Freeman, Frances McDormand and Peter Gallagher were absolutely riveting. And I'm not just blinded by my love for the Gallagher, THOUGH HE DID TOTALLY ROCK IT! Yeah, Peter! That's what I'm talking about. No one brings the sleaze quite like the Gallagher. Thank goodness. Morgan Freeman captured the air of desperation, despair and defeat that his character needed to portray. And Frances McDormand was brilliant as a woman so unhappy in her life, but who has completely come to terms with the idea that this is it for her. I checked my watch a few times but only because I was afraid it was about to end, not because I was bored or impatient. I kind of wished I was watching it on my DVR, so that I could rewatch looks passed between the characters or replay some of the excellent dialogue. I almost want to go see it again.
Jason's Take: "There's not much more to say about 'A Country Girl' other than GO SEE IT!!! It was GREAT!!! And like me, you will love the curtain action - that was one of my most favorite parts!!!"
