I think a lot of people get the idea that life in New York City is awesome and glamorous all the time. Those people have not spent much time on the subway. Last week, during rush hour, I got on the train and almost stood near this woman with a giant suitcase. It wasn't the suitcase that made me move, but rather the large mass of brown stuff she was holding in her hand and licking (ew). So I moved as far away as I could and when the train emptied out a little, I couldn't help but stare. Upon further inspection, the brown stuff wasn't squishy (um, yay?), it was hard and she kept putting it in her mouth, spitting it out, licking it and repeat. I couldn't figure out what it was, aside from disgusting.
Also, this is why I carry Wet Naps and Purell at all times.
