A Little Love from Uncle Sam!

By now, I think you may have heard about the economic stimulus payment that will be coming to a mailbox near you in May. Or as I heard it referred to the other day, the HDTV stimulus package. Well, here's a handy little tool courtesy of the IRS to help you estimate your expected payment.

Show me the money!

You'll need a copy of your Federal return, or at least a good idea of ballpark figures. I don't have any dependents, property or write-offs and even I was pleased with the results - though I'm a little short for an HDTV. The best part - you don't have to do anything to claim your money (except have a valid Social Security number, $3,000 of income and file a 2007 federal tax return). The IRS will take care of it! Of course, I'm no expert so don't count your chickens until they hatch in your hands.
